Spotlight on Free Resource | Steering Committee Charter Template

Every healthcare resiliency program needs a Steering Committee. It's common to bump-up against difficulties obtaining leadership buy-in throughout this process, so it's important to have a group dedicated to supporting your program.

What Is a Steering Committee?

Your Steering Committee is not a working group, but rather a committee of executives responsible for the overall leadership of your healthcare resiliency program. Their role is to review progress reports and make decisions based on the updates and data you provide to them during regularly scheduled committee meetings.

As you form your Steering Committee, it's important to have a governing document that outlines the role of the committee, expectations for participation, and the overarching design of your resiliency program.

How to write a steering committee charter template:

  1. Download this template.

  2. Customize the template to fit the design of your resiliency program and your intentions for the Steering Committee.

  3. Review the Steering Committee Charter with your programs Executive Sponsor.

Once you have a completed Steering Committee Charter, the next step for your resiliency program will be crafting a letter from your executive sponsor inviting potential committee members.
